The Erebus iconic submachine gun is one of the most terrifyingly powerful weapons available in Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty. Infused with dark energy from beyond the Blackwall, this weapon tears through enemies by triggering lethal rogue AI effects when target health drops low. Acquiring it requires careful decision-making during major expansion story quests and thorough exploration of hidden military facilities.
Choosing the Correct Path in Firestarter
Unlocking access to the Erebus blueprint begins near the climax of the Firestarter mission in Dogtown. Players must explicitly choose to help Solomon Reed capture Songbird rather than betraying him. Making this critical story choice redirects your campaign route into the underground Militech Cynosure facility.
Locating the Crafting Spec in Cynosure
During the Somewhat Damaged quest, players find themselves pursued by a deadly rogue maintenance robot inside the Cynosure facility. To find the weapon blueprint, navigate to Sector 2's Engineering section and locate the locked maintenance room near the mess hall. You can unlock this room by restoring power in the adjacent storage room using Technical Ability, or by using clever scanner exploits through the wall.
Recovering the Cerberus Behavioral Component
Obtaining the blueprint is only half of the requirement to craft this legendary submachine gun. After disabling the core and dealing with Songbird, make sure to loot the Cerberus robot's wreckage before leaving the facility. Picking up the damaged component grants access to a follow-up side quest called This Corrosion.
Decrypting Components and Crafting Erebus
Following the main questline leads to a message directing V to Yoko's netrunner shop in Kabuki Market. Yoko decrypts the robot's core to produce the Cerberus Decoded Behavioral System Component necessary for crafting. Players can then craft the Erebus from their crafting menu using tier 5 components, unlocking a Blackwall-powered weapon built to dominate high-level combat encounters.
